Tonight was the local annual fireworks bonanza in one of the town parks. It's kind of odd to have Fourth of July fireworks not on the fourth of July, but I suppose always having it on the Friday night before is easier than rolling the party to coincide with whatever day the holiday happens to fall on.
It was pretty nice, actually. The weather was cool and comfortable, with enough breeze to keep off the mosquitos. What few clouds there were provided a darker backdrop for the show. Sometimes I wonder what veterans feel like attending such events, as the fireworks sound an awful lot like what I imagine gunfire and bomb explosions would sound like, though perhaps not as intense.
And, y'know - they had free popcorn and glowsticks. Always worth the trip.
